Mail Order

How does it work?
We have designed a way for you to order our products even if you are not local to Fort Worth! With our Mail Order Kits, you can take your child's impressions at home, mail them back to us using the prepaid return shipping label included in your kit, and then order whichever products you'd like from our shop. Once you order your kit(s), we will send you the oven bake clay with detailed instructions for how to take good impressions from the comfort of your home. You'll then bake them in the oven and send them back to us. We take it from there!

How many kits do I need? What if I only want to make one handprint for each child, can I just use one kit?
You will need one kit per child that you plan to print. Regardless of which impressions you plan to take, you'll need to order one kit for each child. The cost of our kit reflects not only the actual clay, but also the shipping to/from and labor associated with making your final pieces from the impressions you send. The good news is, you only have to take one set of impressions and can use them for as many products as you'd like!

How quickly do the kits ship once ordered?
Kits typically ship within 1-3 days of ordering, and we use USPS 2 day shipping.

How many items can I purchase with my kits?
As many as you'd like! Your single set of impressions can make an indefinite number of products.

Do you save my child's impressions in case I want to order something else in the future?
Unfortunately, we no longer have storage space to keep copies!  We send your original impressions back to you with your final pieces so that in the event that you want something in the future you can mail us your originals. (Customer is responsible for shipping original molds back to us in this case.)

How long does it take to get my final products back?
Turnaround time is up to 10 weeks from the time we receive your impressions back.

Can I print my pet using a mail order kit?
Absolutely!  We love making keepsakes for your animal babies too!

My clay feels hard and I can't get it soft enough to get good impressions. What should I do?
We have an entire instagram story highlight dedicated to this issue; it is called Troubleshooting. The most important thing to do to soften your clay is to break it into multiple small pieces and knead each piece individually before putting it all back together and rolling it out! This can take some time, so be patient and keep kneading! Your clay should never "expire."

Do I have to send my impressions back before placing an order for products?
You don't! You can order everything together in one order, or you are free to order the kits and place your product orders at your convenience. Please note that your order will not be initiated until both product order has been placed AND impressions have been received. We will email you when we receive your child's impressions to let you know they made it safely!

Does the acrylic shadowbox come with a mail order kit?
Yes and no. If you are not local to Fort Worth, a kit will automatically be added to your cart when you place the shadowbox in your cart. (Standard kit fee still applies and is added to your total) In other words, you do not need to purchase a kit separately if you are buying the acrylic shadowbox!

I would like to order a shadowbox, but I already have a kit. How can I avoid paying for an additional kit?
If you are not local to Fort Worth and already have a kit, you can use the code MAILORDER1 (for one box) or MAILORDER2 (for two) to avoid purchasing extra kits!

When should I order a kit if I am expecting a baby and want to have it for newborn prints?
We recommend ordering a few weeks before you deliver! However, you can easily order it a little sooner or even right after you deliver. Newborn hands and feet don't change much in the first few weeks of life :)

All I have are ink prints of my child as a baby. Can I order products using those?
Yes! We are excited to offer acrylic shadowboxes made from ink prints on paper.  This is currently the only product we offer using ink prints.

I can't find the stacked hands in your shop. Can I order that using mail order kits?
Sadly, the inlay plates and dishes can only be made in studio!

What if I want to make a custom plate using mail order kits?
We are happy to work with you on a custom design! Send us an email with your idea!

How old does a baby need to be in order to safely use your kits?
Our kits are safe to use on brand new babies- the earlier you can get their little prints, the better!  Newborns have the most details in their little hands and feet!

Are the kits returnable?
We are unable to accept returns/process refunds on mail order kits for any reason. If you end up not needing your kit, you can always gift it to a friend!

How long does it take to have a keepsake made? Can I make more than one thing when I come in?
Each session takes about 15-20 minutes from start to finish. You are absolutely able to make as many products as you'd like! It is helpful if you have an idea of what you are wanting before you come in, as it will speed up the ordering process.

Do I need an appointment?
We are no longer scheduling individual appointments, and will be offering walk in impressions only.

Can you save my impressions for future use?
This is the most common misconception people have about our process! We can NOT save your child's impressions when you come into our studio and order in person. We will need to take an impression for every individual piece you order in studio. The process by which we make your keepsakes is completely different from our mail order process, which does allow us to "save" your child's impressions and use them again and again.

How long does it take to get my keepsakes back?
Final products take up to 6 weeks to complete.

Do you offer shipping for the final products?
We are happy to ship your final products to you if you prefer! Standard shipping rates applied.

Do you do any traveling pop up events?
We do not travel with our clay often due to the cumbersome nature of our supplies!

Do you ever host pop ups in your studio?
We do! If you are interested in popping up in our studio, please reach out by email.

What is the best age to have a keepsake made?
We think any age is the perfect age! We have a soft spot for the brand new babies with all of their wrinkles and lines in their hands and feet. No matter your child's age today, they'll never be this little again, and that makes them worth printing.

Do you offer Paint Your Own Pottery?
We do offer Paint Your Own Pottery kits in studio. You'll pick them up and paint them at home, then return to us for firing. Ask one of our team members about what pottery pieces we have in stock!

General Questions

Are your products safe for children?
Yes! All of our clay is non-toxic and perfectly safe for children and babies. We offer baby wipes immediately following your child's impressions to clean any residual clay off of their hand and foot.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Shop Pay.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! They can be purchased in our shop. If you would like a physical gift certificate, we are happy to mail one to you, or you can pick one up Monday - Friday between 8 AM and 4 PM.

What happens if my impression gets damaged?
Ceramics can be unpredictable, and while it is fortunately rare for a piece to break, it does occasionally happen. If there is any issue with your order causing it to break or fall below our quality standards, we will reach out to you and arrange to happily remake your item at no cost to you.
